ASPOCOMP GROUP RESPONSES TO THE NEWS OF TODAY

News about Aspocomp Group’s plans to close down four of its five PWB
factories in Finland are not true.
Aspocomp Group Oyj has published on May 23, 2001 that it has started
negotiations with the personnel regarding the possible closing of the
Aspocomp Oy PWB factory in Espoo. The negotiations will end earliest
by July 11, 2001. Aspocomp Group has production plants in Espoo,
Salo, Klaukkala, Teuva, Padasjoki and Oulu in Finland and in Evreux
in France.
Aspocomp Group Oyj has on March 1, 2001 signed an agreement
increasing its ownership in the Thai printed wiring board (PWB)
company P.C.B. Center (Thailand) Co., Ltd. to a majority of 51%.
On January 5, the Group acquired a 51% interest in ACP Electronics
Co., Ltd. a PWB producer operating out of Suzhou, China. Aspocomp’s
share of the investments in this Chinese joint venture, whose
holdings it acquired at the beginning of 2001, will total
approximately 35 million euros, and its joint venture partner, Chin-
Poon Industrial Co., Ltd., will invest 21 million euros, in addition
to the 12 million euros it has already put in to the operation. The
share capital of the Chinese company is USD 64.4 million. The aim of
the program is to build up a PWB plant for telecommunication
customers employing HDI technology.
