NEW VICE PRESIDENT RESPONSIBLE FOR STRATEGIC PLANNING, RESEARCH AND
DEVELOPMENT FOR ASPOCOMP

Aspocomp is the leading high-tech printed circuit board manufacturing
company in Europe and one of the leading companies in the world. In
order to further intensify development to strengthen the leading
position, professor, doctor of technology Jukka-Pekka Ranta has been
appointed Vice President of Aspocomp Group Oyj, responsible for
strategic planning, research and development from September 1, 2000.
He will be reporting to President and CEO Jarmo Niemi. Dr. Ranta has
acted as professor at Department of Industrial Engineering and
Management and Director of ExIMa Education Unit at the Helsinki
University of Technology. He has also acted as the Chairman of the
Board of Directors of Aspocomp Group Oyj. Relating to the appointment
Professor Ranta has left his resignation from the Board membership
from July 1, 2000.

The Board has decided to elect as a new Chairman Mr. Jorma Eloranta
and as a new Vice-Chairman Mr. Karl Van Horn. Mr. Jorma Eloranta is
at the moment President and Chief Executive Officer of technology
group Patria Industries. He has been involved with printed circuit
board industry since 1982 as a board member and other management
functions. Mr. Karl Van Horn is Chairman of Arlington Capital
Investors. He has been intimately involved in international portfolio
investment matters since 1962.

Professor Ranta has a long and broad experience in managing national
and international research and development projects. He also has good
contacts with various universities and research institutes. Research
and development activities in the electronics industry have been
decentralized and distributed in connection with the outsourcing
trend and decreasing number of vertically integrated companies.
Aspocomp’s aim is to cooperate with universities, research institutes
as well as material and equipment suppliers through its own research
and development projects in order to create new PCB technologies. A
specific attention will be given to demand-supply -chain management
in order to implement the latest research and development results
into operation. Professor Ranta will be in responsible for these
areas. The appointment enables professor Ranta for a full-time
commitment to Aspocomp.
